UAV Engines Ltd, the world’s leading supplier of power units for unmanned air vehicles, has seen its productivity levels rise after it substantially reduced the amount of time its employees were spending on holiday administration. Rather than manually filling out holiday forms, employees at UAV’s facilities in Shenstone now request, and obtain authorisation for, their holidays, using LeaveMaster, a fast, automated online system; eliminating paperwork and freeing up both staff and managers to focus on improving the company’s bottom line.
“We previously had a paper-based system where a form was filled out by the employee who wished to book leave and passed to their line manager for authorisation,” Nathan Bailey, Operations Manager at UAV Engines, explained. “Providing the manager approved the leave, the form was then sent to a clerk who manually filed it. But this was cumbersome and resulted in differences of opinion on holiday booked and holiday owing. Paperwork was regularly lost and reconciliation exercises had to be carried out to correct records.”
In looking for an efficient, automated holiday booking system to implement across the company, UAV chose LeaveMaster as it’s simple to set up and requires very little user training. “We believe interfaces should be graphically-driven, easy to navigate and provide users with clear information. LeaveMaster matched those requirements exactly,” Nathan Bailey commented, adding: “Everyone in the company now has access to accurate, up-to-date holiday information, our holiday admin overhead has disappeared and leave management has now almost become a pleasure as opposed to a headache.”
Zameel at Systems Valley, which developed the application, commented: “We’re delighted UAV Engines streamlined its leave management process using LeaveMaster as the application was specifically designed to save companies like UAV time and money,” adding: “using LeaveMaster, employees at UAV can now book their holidays quickly and easily online, while managers can accurately record and monitor all types of staff leave and absence.”
To book a holiday or request time off in lieu using LeaveMaster, rather than filling out a form, an employee simply logs into a web-based application and requests their leave online. This triggers an email to their line manager, who can see at a glance who else is away on the days requested, before authorising or denying the request at the click of a button. Details of all upcoming employee leave is then stored in a leave calendar.
