With the start of the 2010 FIFA World Cup less than a month away, the CIPD has issued a guide for employers on managing staff absence during the tournament.
The guide advises employers to make their organisational policy on absence clear to employees and also suggests ways that employers can allow staff to enjoy the matches they wish to watch, but without causing disruptions to the business. This includes offering flexible working hours and shift swaps, and holding on-site screenings of matches.
