One of the problems with using a manual, paper-based system to book and process leave requests is that each time a member of staff books a holiday, either the employee or their line manager has to manually recalculate the amount of holiday the employee still has left to take that year.
This not only takes time, there is also always the danger that the employee’s leave balance will be incorrectly recalculated, resulting either in a line manager needing to correct the balance, wasting even more time, or the employee taking more, or less, holiday than they were entitled to that year.
