When an employee asks for time off, their line manager, more of often than not, decides whether to authorise the leave based on a gut feeling about whether the employee will be needed during the time they want to be away.
This is especially the case in organisations that still use a paper or spreadsheet-based leave management system, as the only way the manager can find out if the employee will be required is to wade through paperwork or scan spreadsheets to see if anyone else is going to be away at the same time.
If an employee requests leave via LeaveMaster, however, their line manager can make an informed decision about whether to approve or deny the leave in seconds.
All the line manager needs to do is login to LeaveMaster and click through to a Grant Leave page, where they can see at a glance which employee has requested the leave, the type of leave they wish to take, the start and end dates of the leave, how many days leave they wish to take and their current leave balance for that leave type.
The same page also contains a calendar that shows the line manager who else in the organisation has booked or requested time off that might conflict with the leave request they are considering; so they can check to see if authorising the request will leave teams or job functions under-staffed. They can then approve or reject the leave request with one click of a button.
