British employers are getting tough on members of staff who take unwarranted sick days, a new survey has found.
The survey was conducted by job search company CareerBuilder, who interviewed nearly 200 British managing directors. They found that 50% of employers check that an employee who has called in sick is genuinely ill.
To see if an employee has a legitimate reason for being off work and isn’t faking illness, employers use a wide range of tactics including phoning the employee, calling by their house, asking for a doctor’s note and checking the employee’s social networking page.
One of the most effective ways to identify employees who take unwarranted sick days is to use LeaveMaster in conjunction with the Bradford Factor.
