UK employers have been warned that they could face record levels of sickness absence during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
In a poll conducted by the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP), only 10% of employers said they are going to let their staff work flexible hours during the London Olympics.
Since the Olympic Games will be a significant occasion for the UK and many employees will want to take time out to see events, the CIPP has warned employers that unless they change their stance and let staff work flexible hours, they could be hit with a high number of staff sickies.
The CIPP has additionally recommended that employers start planning how they are going to handle an expected high number of annual leave requests over the two weeks of the Games.
The most effective way to manage leave requests and reduce unwarranted sickness absence in your organisation is to use an absence management solution such as LeaveMaster.
