According to a new survey, one in three British employees have lied about being sick in order to take time off work.
The survey was conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers who polled over 1,000 people. 34% of those surveyed admitted they had taken a sick day when they were not really ill, in order to spend time with their family or simply because they were bored and depressed with work.
40% of employees who admitted to taking fake sick days even said they planned ahead by pretending to fall ill in advance of calling in sick.
LeaveMaster acts as a deterrent to unwarranted absenteeism because whenever an employee calls in sick, their sick day can be logged in the application by a manager or a team member. LeaveMaster then adds the sick day to the employee’s permanent, online sickness record and automatically updates the employee’s Bradford Factor score.
Knowing that, if they call in sick, the absence will be added to their sickness record and their Bradford Factor score updated, employees are dissuaded from taking the day off if they’re not really ill.
