A government-backed review into sickness absence has found that staff absenteeism costs the British taxpayer £13 billion a year
The review was commissioned by the Government in February, with the aim of finding ways to reduce sickness absence in both the public and private sectors.
According to the findings of the review, 11 million employees take sick leave every year, with 300,000 going on to claim health-related benefits.
The country as a whole, meanwhile, misses out on £15 billion in economic output every year as a result of sickness absence.
